All it takes is just one moment to change the course of your life. For me, it was one perfect night.

I have always had a thing for my brother’s best friend, Ben. When I found him on my parents’ couch, drowning his sorrows in a whiskey bottle, my attempts to comfort him quickly turned into a night of raw and intense passion.

My foolish heart hoped he might feel the same way I do.

But Ben wasn’t there to stay and I woke up the next morning alone with a broken heart.

I attempted to forget the guy with a smile to die for and a touch that sets me on fire.

I thought I was over him.

I thought he was gone forever.

Until, eighteen months later Ben returns and learns my secret. Now, he is hell-bent on winning me back.

He plays dirty.

And he won’t stop until he gets what he wants—me.

But he has secrets of his own.

Secrets that could destroy everything we might have and everything we are.

excerpt

We more or less jog back to the house, talking a lot of non-sense and laughing. I blame it on the cold or the sudden influx of fresh air to our brains. When the house comes into sight, he nudges my shoulder.

“Whoever gets to the house first, gets a wish?”

“What, do I look like a genie?”

“No, but I can rub you places if you want.” He smirks at me.

I bump into him, making him step off the paved road and fight for balance, before I sprint ahead like a bat out of hell and yell behind me. “Dream on. I’ll so win. And then you’ll be my bitch.” I’m running so fast I can actually feel my lungs burn. I suppose running after a toddler isn’t exactly the same as working out. And yoga doesn’t seem to have done much for my stamina. I feel like I’m going to collapse, but I’m not willing to give up. I have about hundred feet left to run when I can hear his footsteps behind me.

When he passes me, he doesn’t seem to be out of breath at all.

“Who’s going to be whose bitch, huh? Is that all you got Gilbert?”

Such a cocky fucker. He overtakes me and gets to the house before me, casually leaning against the porch while I trot over there feeling like death warmed over. It’s not fair. He looks absolutely breathtaking, the way he has his arms crossed over his chest, his feet are crossed at his ankles while his body is leaning against the bars of the porch railing. His head is tilted slightly back, nearly reaching the handrail. He has a shit-eating grin on his face.

I give him a death glare and am about to walk past him up the stairs onto the porch, when he grabs my arm and yanks me toward him. He turns me so my back is now against the porch and cages me in with each hand grabbing one of the bars on either side of my head. Suddenly, breathing becomes even more difficult.

“What about my wish? You won’t go back on your word, will you, Frankie?”

I can only shake my head. You know, like intelligent people do. Forming coherent words and phrases…pfft, so over it.

“Good,” is all he says before he lowers his head, coming closer and closer. I feel like I’m going to faint. I know I should stop this. I know it isn’t the best idea. I know it could break my heart, again. Chances are it will. And if it breaks this time, if he breaks it this time, there won’t be a coming back from it. Knowing all of this, I still can’t manage to tell my heart to stop doing the little somersaults and I can’t tell those damn butterflies in my stomach to chill the fuck out. Instead, I lick my lips in anticipation. When his lips eventually connect to mine, I feel like my lungs are finally able to fill with air. It feels as if I’ve been holding my breath forever—not just the last minute, but the past eighteen months. His lips are soft, yet demanding against mine and his tongue is insisting on getting access. I part my lips slowly, not expecting my body betraying me. When his tongue connects with mine, a quiet whimper sneaks past my lips—but not quiet enough. Ben hears it and it seems to spur him on. He presses his body closer to mine, his tongue engaging mine in a dirty little tango. We’re lost in the moment, in the sensation of tasting each other. When the front door opens, we both startle and quickly step away from each other—like two teenagers nearly caught by their parents. He seems to be able to get his bearings quicker than I do, sidestepping me and walking up the stairs.

review

What a fabulous first book from this amazing author! The was a story that I had to read and finish in one sitting and I was pretty well gripped from the first page.

That One Night pretty well sums up the story – its based on the events of one night that sets into motion a path for the two main characters.  Frankie is left with a permanent reminder of that night and hasn’t set eyes on Ben, the other half of the love equation.  It is a case of acting on the infatuation she has had with her brothers best friend, and believing that he felt the sme.  Reality check comes the morning after when she is abandoned with just a simple one word note.

The journey of the two main characters hasn’t been easy in the intervening year or so and you can tell pretty well straight away that the feelings they both had are still very much there. The only thing is Ben’s actions need explanation and justification before Frankie will let down the defences she worked hard to erect.

And boy do we get a few surprises and twists to the tale.  In their own ways both Frankie and Ben have reasons for their actions and much as both of their actions frustrated me to the point in wanted to lock them in the same room and talk! But it does lead to a story line that you need to read just to find out what happens and what mysterious burden Ben has carried.

There is the spark between the two almost from the moment they lay eyes on each other again and Ben is definitely a man on a mission. I loved his focus on getting back into Frankie’s good books and this leads to some real awwwww moments as well as some pretty hot ones too!  Frankie was the one who left me mildly exasperated but she has her reasons and comes good in the end.

The full cast of supporting characters were also endearing and I really did love Viv too – her abrasive comments and straight to the point attitude was refreshing!

I eagerly await the next book in this series and I so need Ben’s point of view!

Four fantastic stars!

Thanks to the Kindle, she finally arrived in the 21St century and discovered the Indie literature world. Josie has been lost to it ever since. With her love for the written word and her promiscuous feelings for countless book boyfriends, the next logical step was to start writing. The voices in her head and her imaginary friends wanted out to play and so she wrote her debut novel “That One Night”, that’s to be released early summer 2015. And the good news is, there are more voices and imaginary friend where Ben and Frankie came from.

Josie is a financial expert by day and a writing junkie by night. The rest of the time she’s a bit of a hippie, a bit of a goth and many things in between. Josie loves to spend time with her husband when she can tear herself away from her book boyfriends. She loves video games, movies, good food and even better music. She’s addicted to chips, long baths and shoes. Oh, and books of course. Definitely books.

review

Kindle Alexander does it again! This has been such an amazing read and the angst… gah! I will also admit that I was a touch worried about treading this from just reading the blurb but it intrigued me and I have been a fan of Kindle’s for a while now so I wouldn’t not read it. But she blew me away! And just to say I am so glad I read it.

Dylan, the creator of a very sought after social media app is stuck in the life he is leading for may reasons. He has a family and is only with his wife for the kids. Teri his wife also becomes quite a pivotal character in the story too. Dylan is an honest and likeable married family man and for a lot of reasons he remains firmly in the closet. I did get a touch frustrated with him but also found his reasons for being so reluctant to admit his feelings were also endearing to him as a character too.

He is concerned with making sure those around him are happy and his life is on track until he meets Tristan, one of the parties interested in buying his app. Not only does he come long to buy the technology from Dylan but he also manages to steal him away from the life he has so carefully tried to forge for himself. I did feel in a couple of places, Tristan was a touch TOO overbearing but the rest of the story and how it all unfolds balances this.

This isn’t a tale of instant love and the story has its twists and turns but it was a book that I simply couldn’t put down!   There were a few OMG moments and I think that one of the most defining characters for me was Teri!

Five fab stars from me!

Best Selling Author Kindle Alexander is an innovative writer, and a

both the male/male and male/female genres. It’s always a surprise to see
what’s coming next!
I live in the suburbs of Dallas where it’s true, the only thing bigger than
an over active imagination, may be women’s hair!
Usually, I try for funny. Humor is a major part of my life – I love to
laugh, and it seems to be the thing I do in most situations – regardless of
the situation, but jokes are a tricky deal… I don’t want to offend anyone
and jokes tend to offend. So instead I’m going to tell you about
Kindle.
I tragically lost my sixteen year old daughter to a drunk driver. She had
just been at home, it was early in the night and I heard the accident
happen. I’ll never forget that moment. The sirens were immediate and
something inside me just knew. I left my house, drove straight to the
accident on nothing more than instinct. I got to be there when my little
girl died – weirdly, I consider that a true gift from above. She didn’t
have to be alone.
That time in my life was terrible. It’s everything you think it would be
times about a billion. I love that kid. I loved being her mother and I
loved watching her grow into this incredibly beautiful person, both inside
and out. She was such a gift to me. To have it all ripped away so suddenly
broke me.
Her name was Kindle. Honest to goodness – it was her name and she died a
few weeks before Amazon released their brand new Kindle ereader. She had no
idea it was coming out and she would have finally gotten her name on
something! Try finding a ruler with the name Kindle on it.. It never
happened.
Through the course of that crippling event I was lucky enough to begin to
write with a dear friend in the fan fiction world of Facebook. She got me
through those dark days with her unwavering support and friendship. There
wasn’t a time she wasn’t there for me. Sometimes together and sometimes by
myself, we built a world where Kindle lives and stands for peace, love and
harmony. It’s its own kind of support group. I know without question I
wouldn’t be here today without her.

I’m still waiting for him to say something…
anything. So many emotions cross his face in a matter of seconds. Happy.
Confused. Sadness. I don’t know what to say. Perhaps I need to say nothing
at
all. In the stillness, our eyes do all the silent talking. Our chests move
with
heavy breathing and desire pours out through our pores. It’s unmistakable.
The
question is what are we going to do about it? The seconds feel like hours
while
we weigh each other’s options.
Finally, Traxx man-ups the situation, and he slowly
takes a couple of steps until he invades all my senses. So close that I can
feel his body heat, and the clean scent of his cologne becomes a part of the
air I breathe. I look at him, my high heeled shoes giving me a closer look
to
his masculine face. His jaw is tense. His eyes intense. It’s a lot more
than I
can take. He’s everywhere and nowhere all at once. I want to grab a hold of
him, and I want to turn around and walk away. Too many feelings…too much. I
want it all. With shaky fingers I place a hand on his chest. I’m unsure if I
should push or pull, so I leave it still instead. He is rock solid and soft
at
the same time, if that’s even possible. His heat burns my hand, but I won’t
move it. It’s the best burn I’ve ever had.
The heat moves through that hand and comes into me
– inside of me, moving throughout my body and filling in my empty heart.
One of
his hands comes up to cover the one I have on his chest, and as I turn my
head
to look at the Traxx sandwich my hand’s caught in between, his other hand
lifts
up, and grabs my hair, moving it behind my shoulder. His hand caresses my
shoulder, then my collarbone, never leaving my skin, until it finally wraps
around the side of my neck and with his thumb, he gently rubs the outline
of my
jaw. Back and forth. And again – back and forth. It’s a beautiful feeling.
It’s
excruciating. I catch myself looking into his eyes and then my eyes move so
I
can stare at his lips.
“Ciara, you are breathtakingly beautiful.”
I realize I can’t talk and then something similar
to a whimper escapes my lips. I recover quickly by clearing my throat and
whispering, “Thank you.” The time lingers on. I wish I could pull him
inside my
place and into my room. Keep him there, allowing myself to be selfish. There
are so many things I want to do to this man that even eternity wouldn’t be
enough time. I also need to try and decipher these feelings I have for him.
To
show him someone cares and that he is worth it. His eyes say so much and
nothing at all.
Raising my chin with his fingers, Traxx whispers,
“It’s time to go.”
“Is it really… time?”
“Yes, it is. We may have to finish… this… another
day. Don’t you think?”
“Agreed. We really have to work on…this.”
He kisses the top of my hand and steps away from
me, back into the receiving hall, waiting for me to lock the door. I turn
around and he smiles and extends his hand towards me. I hold on to it and
follow him to the truck. The thought occurs to me that I would follow this
man
anywhere he needed me.

In an instant, Cassie must put aside all her day-to-day worries: her looks, a job she likes (well deals with), what to wear. At twenty-nine, she receives sudden, life-changing news. She realizes that her everyday life with her fiancé, Jake, was pretty amazing. Who cares about a sarcastic boss or a promotion when losing everything has become a terrifying reality?

Cassie’s shocking news infiltrates the lives of everyone she loves, particularly Jake and her estranged sister, Sandy. Jake wants to be strong for Cassie, but this unexpected turn brings back painful memories—and a terrible secret he’s shared with no one. Sandy, who ran away to pursue stardom, is called home to face those she left behind. The golden child of the family, Sandy fell from her pedestal long ago. Will she be able to face her own failures?

As Cassie struggles against an uncertain future, Jake and Sandy battle with the demons of the past. All three will learn valuable lessons about love, forgiveness and appreciating the days we’re given.

excerpt

Sandy took a big sip of her drink and wove with him through a sea of people to an intimate corner booth. She was young again, with her future all in front of her. Another sip. At least for this night.

“This place is packed!” she exclaimed as she slid next to him.

“Always is.” He inched closer to her. “So, what kind of work do you do?” He looked directly at her. She loved his attention.

“I work in fashion.” The lie slipped easily off her tongue.

“Fashion, very cool. I work in finance on Wall Street,” he said firmly, obviously very impressed with himself.

Sandy took the bait. She was impressed with him, too. Nervously toying with a strand of hair, she searched her brain for something intelligent to say about his career, but she could think of nothing except the movie with Michael Douglas. She took the safe route and simply nodded.

“Do you live near here?” he asked, unconcerned by her lack of response.

“Not far. And you?” Sandy drained her glass, enjoying the warmth of the alcohol as it ran down her throat. She could feel the familiar high of a good buzz. She relaxed into it and escaped the stress of today—and her life.

“Near, too. Near is a nice place to be,” he said, grazing the top of her leg with his hand.

Sandy shivered at his touch.

“You’re beautiful, you know,” he continued. Sandy averted her eyes. She hadn’t flirted in years and his attention was flattering, but also off-putting. She was out of practice.

He traced the side of her face gently with his fingertips. It was jarring to feel another man’s touch. “You are,” he whispered. He was mere inches in front of her. The spicy scent of his cologne mixed with the smell of gin and tonic in an intoxicating way. She felt the warmth of his breath on her neck. Lust filled the small space between them.

Sandy placed her hand on his chest, feeling the sinew of his muscles. The noise of the room muted and she was aware of only the presence of him. Every sense of hers was heightened. She felt his other hand run slowly down her back, his fingertips softly touching her skin. Sandy’s heart raced and her breath quickened. Her mind had long abandoned logic and was working solely only on emotion. She moved closer to him with longing, her body aching for more. He finally leaned in to her, gently kissing her on the lips, ending the slow, delicious torture of desire.

What happens when a stranger takes everything from you in the blink of an
eye? When your life goes from perfection to hell and you aren’t sure if you
want to climb out of the hole you’re in or dig down deeper?
Events from Traxx Maxwell’s past prevent him from getting into serious
relationships and he likes it that way. One unexpected day, hell breaks
loose. “The Incident” happens. Traxx is forced to watch something that no
one should ever see. He starts to fall into a person that no one
recognizes. There is darkness moving within him – he is broken inside.
While she’s waiting for Traxx to quit his slutty ways and really notice
her, Ciara Collins is dating other guys and having fun. One unexpected day
“The Incident” takes over Traxx’s life. While he tries to push everyone
away, Ciara refuses to retreat. Can she help him put his fractured life
back together or will he have to remain this shattered shell, completely
dismantled?
And just when life seems somewhat bearable, the creepers who have been
quietly observing and enjoying Traxx’s suffering, have decided to take
everything away from him – once and for all.
This is a story about how the unexpected can make someone’s life fall into
pieces, and how unconditional love and friendship can help those who are
dismantled become whole again.
